2008-2009 WEBINAR SERIES

ADVANCED GRANTWRITING
More Than Words on the Page: What Works, What Doesn't (Part II)

(This is part two of a two-part series. While you are not required to register for both parts, we strongly encourage you to do so.)

One of the best ways to become a better grant writer yourself is to review others' proposals. Building on the lessons learned in part one of this 2-part series, this interactive webinar will use real life excerpts from winning (and not so winning) grant proposals to demonstrate why one project is more likely to be funded than another. Compare weak and strong proposals and get a funder's perspective on what makes for a winning grant. Participants will also be invited to share specific grant challenges, successes and innovations, and to submit their own proposals for constructive feedback from the group. When?
April 28, 11am-12noon

How much?
$45 for NEN* and SEN Members
$60 for Non-Members

Limited to 20 participants.

Sharon Vardatira, NEN's Senior Fund Development Specialist since 1996, will facilitate this workshop. She has 27 years of proposal writing experience, including as Development Director and Executive Director of several Boston-area nonprofits. Since 1995, she has provided fund development consultation to NEN and its member organizations, as well as to other regional and national non-profit agencies, educational institutions, and organizations working on a wide variety of issues. In the last three years, Vardatira has written over 350 grants, raising approximately $5.5 million from government, foundation, and corporate funders. Vardatira is a member of the National Society of Fundraising Executives, Associated Grantmakers of Massachusetts, and Council on Foundations.

Webinars: Convenient and Easy
A webinar (a web seminar) is a combination conference call and interactive web page. During the webinar, you will be listening by phone and looking at live instructional information through your web browser. You can ask questions and participate in discussions over the phone and also raise your hand by clicking a button online. When you register, you will receive an email with easy-to-follow instructions to get you online quickly for the class. By taking a webinar instead of an in-person course, you can learn the content without any travel time!

Still wondering how a webinar works? Read our Webinar Primer for more details and step-by-step instructions.

*Scholarships are available to individuals from NEN member agencies with annual budgets of less than $1.5 million a year. If you'd like to be considered for a scholarship, contact Cindy Carraway-Wilson either by email or by calling (207) 319-6009 before continuing with your registration.
